The Lausanne Collegiate School weight room, which is located on the bottom floor of the Indoor Athletic Complex Stadium, serves all Lynx student-athletes. The strength and conditioning program is the backbone of our department, and our student-athletes are reaping the benefits of commitment and discipline. In fact, we outgrew our original weight room which was constructed in 2010, and we relocated to the 3,000-plus square foot facility and made a major investment in equipment upgrades. The various equipment and workout stations feature the newest and safest equipment, which include seven double-sided power racks, glute-ham, reverse hyper-extension machines, a super squat 225, a standing power press, plyo boxes, 14 land mines, dumbells, and various other pieces of performance equipment.
We have been pleased with our decision to utilize Dynabody equipment. The functionality, clean lines, simplicity, and durability have served us well. Our intention was to create a simple, workmanlike feel in the weight room while also providing a custom Blue and Gold theme complete with our logos, font and branding. Dynabody met all of those needs.
The facilities and strength & conditioning efforts are operated and supervised by Dan Margitz, who is the strength coach for our varsity sports in conjunction with our head coaches and Mark Hamer, who handles and oversees the efforts for the Lausanne football program.
The Lausanne Cardio Suite was completed in July 2014, after the previous weight room was relocated to the bottom floor of the indoor sports complex. The cardio suite is very popular with faculty, parents and alumni, but it is also instrumental in the rehabilitation of injured student-athletes.
Moving forward, more equipment will be ordered to complete the facility, including rowing machines, additional spin bikes, elliptical machines, and treadmills.
Built in 2010, the Indoor Athletic Complex Gymnasium serves as home of the Lynx varsity boys' and girls' basketball teams, volleyball teams, and various Middle School teams. Some of our Middle School and Lower School teams practice and compete in Norfleet Gymnasium, which is located on the south end of campus.
The IAC Gymnasium, which seats over 1,100, has a custom two-tone main floor, two side courts, a state-of-the-art sound system, custom bleachers, wireless internet, and we have the ability to stream games into the two large flat screen televisions in the Bryan Family Lobby.
