The Conservatory at Lausanne
Our Mission: To build creative, confident and expressive performers with a life-long appreciation for the Performing Arts.
The Lausanne Way is at the core of our Conservatory curriculum, focusing on student-centered, process-oriented arts education. Students are encouraged to take risks as they build confidence in their performance skills, confidence that extends into their academic lives and beyond. We provide these opportunities through meaningful classes and quality private lessons.
For the 2013-2014 academic year The Conservatory will continue to offer private lessons for all ages as well as ensembles and classes in dance, music and acting. Please review all studio policies when enrolling for lessons or classes. Some classes and ensembles involve placement auditions and younger students may need a readiness assessment before being enrolled in private lessons. Descriptions of all offerings are by division:

TERMS OF ENROLLMENT
Students in The Conservatory at Lausanne are bound by all policies and regulations of Lausanne Collegiate School. Enrollment for private lessons, extracurricular ensembles, classes and workshops closes two weeks before the start of each session. The Conservatory at Lausanne reserves the right to refuse enrollment with no refunds to students who demonstrate disruptive or unsafe behavior. Students may be photographed for use in web or print publicity; however the student’s full name will not be used.

RECITALS & PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
The Conservatory at Lausanne sponsors two official recital events for private lesson students during the year, in addition to informal performance opportunities.
- Informal Winter Recital & Reception in the Alumni Dining Room (dates TBA)
- Formal Recitals in the Elder Performing Arts Center (dates TBA)
Students in Ensembles or Group Classes will have additional performances (dates TBA) including:
- Middle School Acting
- Lower School Performing Arts - Ballet & Musical Theater Production
- Lower School Performing Arts - Spring Dance and Voice Recital
- Lower School Beginner Band will perform on a Studio Recital
- Drumline students will perform at scheduled athletic events as well as selected band concerts
- Jazz Band students will perform at selected band concerts and special events
In addition, each teacher will design events that suit the particular needs of the students in their own studio, allowing for appropriate, challenging and positive experiences for each student. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in both formal recitals and studio recitals and events.
