Dear Parents,
I am excited to report that construction on our new library, gymnasium and athletic fields is nearing completion. We expect the library and gymnasium to be available for student use by the first week of October. Unfortunately, given the growing season required, our fields will not be ready until late October. Please see below a listing of our progress to date:
- Gym floor painting and court layout is complete
- Gym lobby ceramic tile installed
- All carpet in the library is in place
- Millwork in the library is virtually complete inclusive of fireplace area
- About 90% of the restroom partitions have been installed
- Field House concessions and bathrooms 90% complete
- Sprint track final surface application is underway
- Weight room is clean and ready for equipment delivery this week
I am even more excited when I think how these facilities will be received by our students. Our students need and deserve these fine facilities, as do the faculty and staff that will work in them. I can't wait until the doors are open for use. I am confident you will be as enthused as I am when you see these facilities firsthand yourself.
Take a look at pictures taken of our construction progress this week.

Dear Parents,
We are enjoying a terrific start to a new school year. It is such a joy to have both our returning students and new students on campus. We have been fortunate to receive new students from almost every non-public and public school in the Memphis area as well as a large number of students from out of state and out of the country.
As an institution, our admission numbers are very strong; to date we currently have 22 more students enrolled than at this time last year with several more still in process. I believe the continued interest in Lausanne from prospective families is testament to our traditions and the value that we provide each and every day for our students and families.
In the weeks ahead I will provide updates on our construction progress, new program implementation, etc. If you have a specific area you would like me to address in this brief column, then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Go Lynx!

Dear Parents,
At Lausanne, we will do whatever it takes to ensure our students are successful, and that our institution fulfills its mission. As an example, the Lower School faculty housed in the Jappe Wing had very late access to their classrooms due to remodeling work. On this past Saturday and Sunday, due to their hard work, resiliency and professionalism they set about putting their classrooms back in order. Additionally, other Lower School teachers pitched in to help, as did Middle, Upper School and administration. Thanks to their collective efforts and those of our terrific maintenance department our classrooms were made ready for students. This was another example of the independent school mind-set that permeates Lausanne. This means continually reflecting, going the extra mile and doing whatever is necessary. Why? Because at Lausanne students come first!
I am looking forward to your partnership over the coming school year as we work together to do whatever it takes to provide the very best learning environment for our children. As always, if you have any questions or comments regarding this e-mail or any other matter, please do not hesitate to contact me.
