Chess Club
Did you know that after sports, chess is the most popular after school activity in the nation? Chess is FUN! Children love to learn how different moves yield different results.
In addition to being fun, chess offers many other benefits: 1) it fosters the development of problem-solving skills and teamwork among students. 2) It enhances grades in both math and science. 3) It teaches
children that every action has a consequence. As a famous chess grandmaster Gary Kasporov once said, "chess mimics life."
The Lausanne Chess program partners with Mid-South Chess, a local chess program, to provide students with chess instruction. Each student has the opportunity to engage in the exciting, educational
and mind-developing game of chess in a fun and challenging environment. Grouped by age and level, students are taught by active chess players who meet the high standards of Mid-South Chess. The instructors are led by FIDE Master and Memphian Jake Kleiman.
