Technology @ Lausanne
The Lausanne laptop program, the first of its kind in the Mid-South, is enjoying its eighth successful year. All students in grades 5 - 12 now carry their own laptops to each academic class every day. Supported by our wireless network, students and teachers are able to use the resources of the Internet and Intranet in each class. Aided by each classroom's ceiling-mounted projection system, both students and teachers can display their own work to a larger audience.
Lausanne is committed to preparing our students for "their future, rather than our past or present." That theme underscores the significance of the Lausanne Laptop Program. The Wall Street Journal reported that 25% of all jobs today will disappear within ten years. Additionally, 85% of fifth graders will enter jobs that have not yet been created, using technologies that have not yet been designed. Therefore, we must prepare our students to be of high value in the new currency of today, Human Currency, where information is power, magnified by the interconnection of individuals. We are preparing our students to be ready for the unknown by teaching them to live in a world that is constantly changing.
