Advisory Program

The advisory program in the Middle School is the key to teaching students to appreciate themselves, self-advocate, value others and become lifelong contributors to society. This program is designed to provide students with age-appropriate scaffolding in both their academic and social growth. Students rotate through a weekly schedule of a whole Middle School convocation, common time and one-on-one academic advising. Convocation time is used to address whole middle school issues, reinforce expectations, invite guest lecturers and feature student work and talents. Common time allows students the freedom to socialize, catch up on missing assignments or seek help in a specific subject. Finally, one-on-one advisory allows students to meet individually with their advisory teacher to discuss their strengths, concerns and goals for the future.
