Dear Alumni!
As proud parents of 6th and 4th graders, we have been part of the Lausanne family for six wonderful years. We look forward to the day they when they will join you as Lausanne alumni and are able to look back at these years as you have and understand how important this experience has been for them.
We’ve agreed to chair this year’s annual fund because we know how important our children’s education is and we think that there needs to be more resources to help others benefit as well.
It’s no secret that the economy has hit many of our families very hard. That’s why increasing funds available for financial aid is critical. Alumni have generously supported financial aid through the annual fund for the past several years. This year, all funds donated for that purpose will increase the pool of financial aid available for the 2011-2012 school year. It is an exciting opportunity for alumni to realize tangible results of your generosity.
The average financial aid award, which is based on the family’s ability to pay, is $7,500. Our goal this year is to fund 6 new awards with $45,000 raised from alumni. To help us get there, alumni have been challenged with an anonymous grant of $10,000 which we will receive for all new or increased gifts.
In addition to our increase in financial aid, the annual fund is supporting the installation of a campus-wide security system and summer travel study grants for our teachers so that they may explore new teaching methods, complete projects in their subject areas or find new worlds to explore that will enhance their teaching. Campus improvements and money for the arts, athletics and other programs will also be supported.
Our Annual Fund volunteers from the decade in which you graduated will be calling soon. In the meantime, please accept our sincere appreciation for your leadership and support of this very important effort.
We hope you will thoughtfully consider making Lausanne one of your giving priorities and enabling others to experience a Lausanne education. Giving or making a pledge online is easy.
Here’s to a wonderful year for us and the children of Lausanne,
Shiva Shankar and Monika Natarajan
