2020 State Basketball Champions. Lausanne basketball is a family. Coming into the 2020-21 season, the Lausanne Lynx look to add to their storied history with yet another trip to the state championships. Head Coach Marvis Davis has the roster to do just that. "The Lausanne boys basketball team is working hard to prepare for the upcoming season," Davis said.
Coach Marvis Davis enters his fifth season as the varsity boys head basketball at Lausanne Collegiate School. Coach Davis came to Lausanne in October of 2015 from Germantown High School. His expertise on the court is a fit for the historied basketball program at Lausanne but his knowledge of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is just as important. “It’s very important to have the balance with athletics and academics. I know the rigor of the IB Programme, having coached students in this rigorous academic path before, and what it takes for students to succeed both on and off the court. The academics at Lausanne speak volumes about the school and I am glad to be a part of the process,” shared Coach Davis. Originally from Los Angeles, California, Coach Davis was both a football and basketball standout at George Washington College Preparatory High School. He received all-state honors in football, all-district honors in basketball and was awarded a full scholarship to play football at San Diego State University. During his junior year, he transferred to the University of LaVerne in LaVerne, California to, once again, play both football and basketball. Coach Davis received his bachelor's and master's degrees from LaVerne. Before arriving at Lausanne, he was the head coach at four other schools: Fontana High School (CA), Treadwell High School (TN), Southwind Middle School (TN) and Germantown High School (TN). Coach Davis’ coaching accolades include: 2- Shelby County Coach of the Year, 1- AAU National Championship, 4- Shelby County Schools Championship, 7- District Championship, 4- Regional Championship, 1- Regional Runner-up, 3- Sub-State Championship, 3- State Final Four and 1-State Championship.
