Preparing for the 2022-23 School Year

Over the past two years, Lausanne, with the help of its COVID Task Force and the vigilance of its faculty and staff, has managed to ensure the safety of our community while maintaining in-person classes. Today, the FDA's outside panel of advisors recommended approving an emergency use authorization to allow COVID-19 vaccines to be administered to everyone six months and older. The full FDA is expected to make a final decision within hours, and the CDC is expected to... Read More

Lausanne Protocols Change to Follow New CDC Guidance

As we have for the last two years, we've followed the recommendations of the CDC to ensure in-person learning can continue for the school year.  On Friday, they released helpful new guidance for communities to base their protocols on, giving schools a new  "COVID-19 Community Level" website tool to monitor the danger of COVID-19  in counties across the country.  On Wednesday morning, March 2, we will begin following this resource to determine what campus... "When Will Lausanne Go Mask Optional?"

"When will Lausanne go mask-optional inside?" With many places making the shift to mask-optional, we wanted to share our markers for when Lausanne will make that change again. With 40 students on campus still ineligible to receive the vaccine, we're working to ensure our campus remains a safe space for them. We are looking at ways to protect students but also begin to ease requirements.  Currently, we're looking at these... Vaccination/Booster Required for School Trips

We are all working diligently to ensure in-person learning can continue.  Currently, people in close contact that have been vaccinated in the last six months or have received a booster shot do not have to quarantine after an exposure.  Overnight trips and trips where community members are in close proximity eating or drinking pose a challenge for maintaining mask protocols and social distancing. To ensure we’re protecting our ability to hold in person classes,  any... Read More

If your child has been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus (having received both doses) or if your child has recently received a booster dose, please share the proof with us in one of two ways: Click here to... January 2022 Adjustments

The CDC has updated quarantine procedures  for people testing positive for the coronavirus, and for those exposed.  From their website:   “The change is motivated by science demonstrating that the majority of SARS-CoV-2 transmission occurs early in the course of illness, generally in the 1-2 days prior to onset of symptoms and the 2-3 days after.” See our website for quarantine procedures for both COVID-19 positive cases and close contacts. As we shared with... Read More

Winter Athletics Phased Restart

As you know, Lausanne’s policy since the pandemic began has been to follow the guidelines from the CDC and our SCHD. In Health Order #15, the Shelby County Health Department asked for all school-related close-contact sports to be suspended beginning on November 23. Being consistent with previous orders, we followed their recommendation and shared that we would continue to evaluate the situation and update you by December 11.  Yesterday, we met with members of our COVID-19 Task... CDC Updates Definition Of Close Contacts

Wednesday, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), updated its definition of who is at risk of contracting coronavirus to include people who come into close contact with infected individuals in multiple short periods of time over a 24-hour period. This new definition of "close contact" expands the pool of those deemed in danger of being infected by the virus after being around someone with the virus.  The old way (solid block of 15 mins):  someone is identified...
