Coronavirus News

Framework for Reopening

As we've shared in our weekly eNews, we expect to open school on August 17 with all students on campus and safety measures in place that address the Covid-19 pandemic. Our task force has begun developing plans to ensure this can happen.

As we proceed, the task force is guided by these goals:

  1. – We must stay true to the educational quality of Lausanne
  2. – The safety of our students and the health of the community must be protected
  3. – The situation may change quickly, and we must remain adaptable

With those goals, we've begun to develop policies for the fall.

General Policies Across Divisions:

  • Temperatures will be taken at the gate, and periodically throughout the day to ensure there aren't any temperature spikes in students.
  • Spaces around campus are being utilized and remodeled to accommodate small groups of students.
  • Students will remain in small groups, and movement across campus will be restricted and avoided as much as possible.
  • Students will take different, specific paths to their learning spaces.
  • As much as possible, students will have their classroom supplies. Sharing is great, but for now, we're going to discourage it during the pandemic.
  • Shared supplies like laptops and iPads will be avoided, items will be sanitized between uses.
  • Sanitizing stations are being installed in each classroom and will include hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes for surfaces that are touched frequently.
  • All interior areas will be sanitized nightly following health department guidelines
  • Assemblies, Field Trips, Pep Rallies, and large group gatherings will be put on hold for the time being.
  • Buses, locker rooms, and other places where proximity is unavoidable will be unused or closed.

The above points are only the beginning. Discussions and planning will continue to be ongoing throughout the summer, with groups of teachers from each division developing specific age-appropriate plans.

As we all know, the situation is changing daily as more news, research and recommendations about COVID-19 are published. We'll continue to adjust our plans to the situation as it develops and share the information with you. We also want to try to address your concerns, so we've made a form on the website where you can share your thoughts and questions with the task force.

Thank you for your support, and stay safe!
