January 2022 Adjustments

The CDC has updated quarantine procedures for people testing positive for the coronavirus, and for those exposed. From their website: “The change is motivated by science demonstrating that the majority of SARS-CoV-2 transmission occurs early in the course of illness, generally in the 1-2 days prior to onset of symptoms and the 2-3 days after.”

See our website for quarantine procedures for both COVID-19 positive cases and close contacts.

As we shared with families in eNews, Lausanne has made some adjustments due to the higher rate of transmission of the Omicron variant. For the month of January:

  • Lower, Middle and Upper School students will pick up their lunch from the Dining Hall, then return to their classrooms/advisory to eat. This change will help us limit potential exposures, but also aid in contact tracing.
  • The Blue Heron Cafe will still be open for students to purchase food, but they'll need to eat it outside.
  • Students returning to school after an exposure or positive test will be required to eat in specially designated spaces as they complete the masking protocol.
  • Athletic events will be limited attendance to coaches, players and families only. Visiting teams will be given an appropriate number of tickets for their fans. All attendees will be required to be masked at all times.

These changes are currently only for the month of January, but we will continue to evaluate all of our processes to protect our community against this latest threat.
