We had a wonderful graduation weekend on campus for the Class of 2020 this past weekend, hosting 11 ceremonies for the seniors and their immediate family to ensure social distancing.
Our efforts to host the celebration showcase our community's ability to be flexible, adaptable and thoughtful as we prepare to begin our 94th school year.
Knowing that a Lausanne education is best experienced through in-person relationships, we're developing plans for all students to return to on-campus classes on August 17, 2020.
Our Task Force, made up of infectious disease experts, doctors and members of our administrative team, is working on ways to minimize risks and keep students safe while giving our community a return to the routines we all miss.
Soon, our fall varsity teams will begin meeting to prepare for their upcoming seasons, staying in small groups as they move through practices. These "protective bubbles" gives us an example of how we can bring our students back to campus. This fall we will creatively utilize the quarter million square feet of 9 uniquely designed campus buildings to continue to allow for small groups to learn and move through campus while maintaining the safety of our community.
As we all know, the situation can change quickly. The task force is preparing for different scenarios we may face moving forward, ensuring that Lausanne will be ready to adjust as necessary. We also are aware that some families may not feel safe returning in-person, and we are developing alternate learning opportunities available for those cases.
Building on the experience and knowledge we've gained by hosting online learning this Spring, we're preparing ways to continue learning if we're forced to limit access to campus. Our Lower, Middle and Upper Schools are preparing to continue education regardless of the situation.
Let me be clear: we are currently planning to host students on campus this fall and are preparing procedures to ensure their safety. But as always, we're prepared to adjust to this fluid situation, and will always make sure you are updated if the situation changes. We’ve added a new website to help with this effort.
Thank you again for our partnership.
