Going into the 2021-22 basketball season, the Lausanne Lady Lynx basketball program has a group of young ladies eager to compete.
"We have a great balance of veteran players that have much playing experience combined with a youthful group of talented and energetic players," head coach Sara Barham said, "The combination of that as a first-year coach at Lausanne is exciting because our senior and junior class can step in and take on that leadership role to mentor the younger players."
While the sophomore and freshmen classes bring in a lot of talent that can help on the court right away, this is a deep team. They also return key pieces after season-ending injuries from last year. The Lynx have a lot of height, length and athleticism which will be a strength on the defensive end. Offensively you can expect to see a team that plays fast, aggressive, and together.
"The expectation is to compete every time we step out on the floor and grow as a team throughout the season so that we peak at the right time to make a deep run into post season play," Barham said. "I’m looking forward to this season and the opportunity to coach this team."
Hammond comes to Lausanne after coaching for four seasons as an assistant to NAIA Hall Of Fame Coach coach Mark Campbell, a position she has held since May of 2017. Campbell praised Hammond’s work ethic. Calling her a hard worker, a lover of people and someone who is self-motivated.
