Conditions Good for Learning Weather Science

Over the past few weeks, our sixth grade students have been learning about weather, how to predict it and how different weather conditions are created. Then the class built their own weather stations to measure it. They created anemometers, barometers and thermometers that were tested in the classroom and then placed outside to see how they act in an outdoor environment. Lynx Connect at Robotics Competition

Lausanne Robotics FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team competed last week in Mountain Home, Arkansas. The challenge at this year's competition was called Relic Recovery. Teams had to place blocks in stacks at a face pace and also extend a figurine outside of field walls. The robot also had to complete an autonomous period in which it deciphered a pattern and place a block in a column according to a picture. Lynx Win Back-to-Back State Titles

The Lausanne varsity football team came into the Division II-AA Blue Cross Bowl state football championship game on Saturday, December 2, with a 26-0, 749 day winning streak. Not since the playoffs two years before, in November of 2015, had the Lynx felt the sting of a loss. Lynx Leadership Shines at Model UN

During the weekend of November 17, Lausanne's Model UN club attended the Southeastern High School Model UN (SHSMUN) convention held at the Marriott Convention Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Over 650 delegates from a number of high schools throughout the southeast participated. The convention is set up to simulate the actual United Nations, complete with various committees on such topics as disarmament, national security and world health. Marcus Cohn '22 Wins Lausanne Spelling Bee

P-R-A-C-T-I-T-I-O-N-E-R. Eighth-grader Marcus Cohn '22 spelled the word practitioner correctly in round thirteen yesterday to walk away the winner of the annual Lausanne Spelling Bee.
