Drew began her tenure at Lausanne in the 9th grade, but her passion for learning started long before that.
“Through Lausanne, I was introduced to anthropology and an entire world of cultural understanding I would have never experienced otherwise,” Drew said.
When it comes to giving back Drew always shares her time generously. In her first year as a Lynx, she started volunteering at Painting with a Twist, a studio that blends art with being social. Through her work there she launched several art camps for kids and helped with numerous charity events. She’s also been known to host events and art sessions at several senior living centers around town. She’d even help residents create and send birthday and holiday cards to their loved ones.
“Painting has always been a fun way for me to focus and lower my stress level,” Drew said.
When she heads off for college Drew plans to major in anthropology as well as explore her interest in psychology, something that she’s drawn to and continues to excel at as a student at Lausanne.
“When I was an intern with the Memphis Bureau of the FBI I developed a niche interest in intelligence and national security and was able to expand that interest through the Memphis Bureau of the FBI and in Washington D.C,” Drew added.
Once Drew earns her undergrad she plans to go to law school and use her degree to further study and assist those living in Native American communities.
As far as extracurricular activities are concerned Drew has participated in two theatre productions at Lausanne, “If It’s Monday, This Must be Murder!” and “The Drowsy Chaperone.” She was also a member of the Technical Theatre Club and enjoyed helping to run the sound and lighting board for many Lausanne meetings and school events.
Drew is also a participant in the full International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme where some of her academic awards include the National Society of High School Scholars, National Honor Society, International Thespian Society and National Spanish Honor Society, IB Design Technology SL Year Two, the IB Theatre Arts HL Year Two, the IB Theory of Knowledge and Perfect Attendance for my entire Lausanne career.
Four years goes by quick when you are as busy and involved as Drew Culbreath. That’s the bittersweet part of seeing our students learn, grow and dream.
