Eric Gray ‘19 Wins Third Mr. Football Title

For the third time in a row, Eric Gray ‘19 has won the title of Mr. Football, making him the first player in the history of the award to gain the title three times.

Eric and the rest of Lynx football just finished an impressive run, winning 38 straight games, the longest winning streak in the history of Shelby County.  The Lynx also won the state championship in 2017 and 2016.

Eric was selected to play in the All-American Bowl, was named 2017 Gatorade Tennessee Player of the Year, and holds the state record with 138 career touchdowns. Gray racked up 8,198 total yards during his time playing football at Lausanne.

This season alone, he rushed for 2,510 yards and scored 40 TDs. This all while keeping up a 3.4 GPA and scoring a 24 on the ACT. The All Purpose Running Back is ranked #1 at the position in the nation.

“This is my 30th year of coaching, and he is the best overall back I’ve ever had the opportunity to coach,” Lynx coach Kevin Locastro recently told The Daily Memphian. “The great thing about him is he’s one of our best practice players. He’s not a guy that’s arrogant. He’s humble about his success.”
