One of the highlights of the school year for students, teachers and administrators at Lausanne is ArtsFest/SportsFest. It is a day filled with fun activities and a way for the Lausanne family to celebrate the closing of another academic year.
Due to current circumstances, the year 2020 version of the day will be remembered a little differently.
For seniors, the day is their last day on campus. The soon-to-be graduates team up with their Lower School classmates and helping them compete in field day competitions and art projects across campus.
In the spirit of ArtsFest/SportsFest, Lausanne headmaster Stuart McCathie made the decision to call off classes for May 1 and encouraged Lausanne families to play tag, paint a picture or just relax in a hammock.
In addition, the Lausanne family is encouraged to take pictures of themselves celebrating the day and congratulating the Class of 2020 and share them on social media with the hashtag #lausanneclassof2020. All those photos and videos will then be compiled for the Class of 2020.
"We hope you'll join us in celebrating these seniors, and I look forward to seeing how your family recreates ArtsFest/SportsFest in your own way," McCathie said.
To get you ready for the fun-filled day, Lausanne upper school administrators got together to show the Class of 2020 at Lausanne that “We’re All in this Together.”
"Building meaningful relationships is such an integral part of the Lausanne experience," said upper school counselor Samantha Douglas. "It is so important for our students to see that their teachers are still having fun on the other side of the computer screen.”
In the video, you will find faculty members, coaches and administrators showing off their dance(?) skills and flexibility in support of the Class of 2020.
Enjoy the day, Lynx family! We love you Class of 2020!
*Don't forget to tag your social media posts #lausanneclassof2020 so that we may share them out and compile them for our amazing seniors.
