Twenty-seven wins.
What began on the season opener in 2016 against Germantown now brought the Lausanne football team to August 17, 2018, against Rosa Fort.
A victory and Lausanne enters the record book tied with MUS for the longest winning streak in Shelby County prep football history.
Rosa Fort came to Lausanne a team that the coaching staff did not take lightly. All week they had talked about the Lions size and speed. In fact, this Rosa Fort team was returning many of the players that came to Lausanne last season to start the year and played the Lynx close for a half before Lausanne pulled away for the victory.
This year would look much different. That was apparent from the start.
After holding the Lions scoreless on their first drive, it was a field goal from Issac Weiss '19 that would be responsible for Lausanne's first points of the season.
After that, it was the rushing attack of Eric Gray '19 and the arm of Sky Forest '19 that would propel the Lynx to a 47-14 victory.
Both Gray and Forest finished the game responsible for three touchdowns apiece.
Forrest and Cameron Sims '19 hooked up for two of those touchdowns, with the third being to Jaylon Johnson '19.
Gray finished the game with 248 yards on 17 carries and three touchdowns.
For Gray, who is raising money for St. Jude for each touchdown scored, it was rewarding knowing the scores mean more than just points.
"I felt really good tonight knowing that my touchdowns are actually helping kids and not just points on a scoreboard. I feel really good about the team going into the game against Harding. I feel like we have really progressed since the summer and we are coming together to be a great team," Gray said.
Lausanne will enjoy a bye week next week before facing Harding at home, in what could be another historic evening.
With the win, Lausanne would be alone in the record books for the longest winning streak.
More history for a program that seems to be making it a weekly occurrence.
