Lausanne Prepares For Matchup Against Whitehaven

When the Whitehaven Tigers and Lausanne Lynx square off against each other on Friday night at Rhodes College, there will be lots of talent on the field.

In total, around 20 combined scholar-athletes from both teams are committed to play football at the next level. Schools such as Michigan, Ohio State, and Tennessee will have players that have already committed suiting up for the game.

Lausanne (2-0) comes into the game with a 29 game winning streak, the longest such winning streak in Shelby County high school football history and the current longest active winning streak in the state of Tennessee.

Whitehaven comes into the game undefeated on the season at 3-0 and looking to avenge a 14-7 loss to the Lynx last season in which Lausanne snapped the Tigers' 18 game winning streak.

Head coach Kevin Locastro knows the weapons the Tigers have, but says his players have practiced well this week and are ready for the challenge.

"We have done the things we need to do as a coaching staff this week to get the kids ready. We worked hard as a team over the holiday weekend to prepare for Whitehaven. We know what they bring to the table and are looking forward to the atmosphere and a great football game," Locastro said.

Eric Gray '19, will be looking to add to his rushing total for the season. In just two games, the senior running back has amassed 525 yards and six touchdowns in just two games for the Lynx.

This game is also one quarterback Sky Forest '19 surely has had circled on his calendar for a while. Forest was knocked out of the Whitehaven game last season after a tackle broke his collarbone. Forest, who has seven touchdowns (five passing and two rushing) to go with his 329 yards passing this season is looking forward to showcasing his talents against a tough Whitehaven team.

Lausanne Collegiate School ranks first on the national leaderboard for money raised as part of the Touchdowns Against Cancer campaign.
  • The Lausanne football team will debut a new jersey combination for this game. Maize pants will make their first appearance in a Lausanne football uniform.

  • Try to arrive by 6 p.m. to ensure that you can find parking and have fun tailgating before kick-off! Because Lausanne's fan section is the East side of the bleachers, we recommend using the North Parkway entrance. Once that side fills up, you'll need to park via the University St. entrance.
  • A number of food trucks will be parked just behind the bleachers, along with the Lynx Store Concession booth.
