On paper, the teams looked evenly matched.
Lausanne came into the game with a 17-1 record. Boyd-Buchanan with an 18-1 record.
However, it was Lausanne that struck early and scored last en route to a 2-1 victory, earning a spot in their second straight state championship game.
Jordan Brown '19 found the back of the net first for Lausanne, scoring in the first five minutes of the match to give the Lynx the early momentum.
The Bucaneers answered, however, and the game went to the half tied up 1-1.
Defense was the story for most of the second half, with each team keeping shots on goal to a minimum.
It was David Wakefield '18 that got loose on a breakaway and scored what would be the game-winner with just over 8 minutes left in the game.
From there, the Lausanne defense stepped up and the Lynx held on for the 2-1 win.
After the game, Coach Rog Lima was happy with the effort and outcome but knows the focus now has to be on the championship match.
"A new season starts tomorrow," Lima said. "I feel like we are prepared. We played well tonight and we are peaking at the right time. If we play our game, we should be in good shape tomorrow."
With the win, Lausanne (18-1) keeps their hopes for back to back state titles alive and advances to play Battle Ground Academy (13-4-2) Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. in Murfreesboro.
