Lausanne Teacher Honored With Teacher Of The Year Award

Lausanne Collegiate School is proud to announce that Catherine Hammons has won the Ed Williams Teacher of the Year award. 

In conjunction with West Tennessee History Day, the Shelby County History Commission & West Tennessee History Day recognize the Ed Williams Teacher of the Year Award annually. 

The late Ed Williams was a Memphian and longtime engineer, legislator and author.

The award will be presented by the county mayor at a dinner hosted by the Shelby County Historian James Rout III on Wednesday, August 7, 2019.

Over 40 of her current and former students supported the nomination with stories of her great teaching.

Teaching at Lausanne since 2008, Ms. Hammons teaches history while also championing and engaging students. Her amazing projects include National History Day, “History Alive” civil rights trip and presentation at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Day annual event and the beloved Global Endeavors year-long project.
