Lausanne Track Heads To State After Impressive Showing At Regionals

In what is the home stretch of the track and field season for high school sports, the Lausanne Lynx are headed to state well represented after their performances in the TSSAA Division II-A West Region Championship. On May 8, Lausanne's Nyle Love '18 and Mason Weiss '18 earned an automatic bid to the state championship meet. Nyle finished second in the discus while Mason finished first in the pole vault.  Jonas pushed through a hurt foot to win the hurdles, setting a personal record in the process.

Maddie Culbreath '19, Katie Wright '19, Natarra Wade '21 and Lauryn Terry '21 then punched their ticket when they picked up a 2nd place finish in the 4x200 relay, becoming the first squad of Lausanne ladies to compete at the state level in track.  

Lausanne will also be represented at the state meet by teams that received at-large bids. The 4x200 team of Eric Gray '19, Bry Clements '18, Tavin Davis '20, and Jalen Denton'19, as well as the ladies 4x100 team of Maddie Culbreath, Katie Wright, Natarra Wade and Lauryn Terry, qualified for state based on their times.

Finally, Jonas Hart picked up an at-large bid in the 300-meter hurdles, rounding out an impressive showing for him at the regional meet. 

Other Lausanne track athletes set personal records at the meet. 

Jacob Hamer '19 (shot), Rachel Lambert '21 (discus), Peter Calkins '20 (800m) and Venice Fan '21 (400m) all set personal records to end the season.
