Lausanne used strong third quarters Thursday night to complete a varsity basketball sweep of the Harding Lions in an electric night in The Lair.
The night began with the Lausanne girls’ basketball team defeating the Lions 49-40.
Lausanne was led in scoring and rebounding by Maddy Elliott ’25 with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Curea Cunningham ’23 also chipped in 10 for the Lynx, who trailed by six after the first quarter and went into the half down two.
“It was a total team effort and we showed a lot of mental toughness coming back in the second half,” head coach Sara Barham said. “We are learning how to deal with the adversity and to beat a rival was a big confidence boost as we go into the rest of the season.”
The boys completed the night with a big win of their own, defeating Harding 74-66.
The Lynx were led in scoring by Hayden Ledbetter ’22 who had 20 points. Donevin Knight ’23 had 16 points, Tyler Wilson ’24 had 14 and Tre Davis ’24 had 7.
“It was a total team win,” head coach Marvis Davis said. “No Matter how good we feel we are, we know it's going to be a war with our cross-town rivals. What I like more than anything is that our kids never got rattled.”
