Lausanne Welcomes Students Back to School

With some of our Lynx on campus and others online, the first week of school was slightly different this year, but none the less exciting!

"The campus was abuzz with life as students from LowerMiddle and Upper School navigated their way around Lausanne for the first time since March," said Headmaster Stuart McCathie. "Online students joined into discussions and spent time building relationships virtually, as well. We've been preparing for this week for a long time, and it's good to see our plans successfully put into action."

"My heart has been so happy being back with my kiddos this week," said Junior Kindergarten teacher Carrie Miller. "Whether in person or online, we are truly feeling like a JK Classroom Family."

To help students adjust to the new learning environment, we welcomed each division back one day at a time with Lower school starting on Monday and Middle School and Upper School following on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The week was full of adjustments as teachers discovered the best ways to engage students in the classroom and online, but were confident about taking on the school year because of the passion our teachers like Ms. Miller have for their roles and their determination to stay true to the educational quality of Lausanne.

"I have found this to be an incredible opportunity for growth in my own profession, but also in building relationships," said Middle School Individuals and Societies teacher Kyle Lawrence. "We’ve certainly dealt with some challenges, but the students have all been patient with the changes. I’ve been so impressed with their ability to roll with the new changes in both delivery of instruction and with the masks and social distancing measures that have been put into place. All in all, it’s been an exhausting but fulfilling first week!”
