Some of our Lynx authors from Middle and Upper School displayed their writing talents recently when they competed in the 2022 Wordsmith Writing Olympics.
Hosted by the University of Memphis, the annual contest gives students a platform to display their writing skills through a series of timed competitive challenges.
The students faced writing prompts that required quick responses and clarity. However, their innate gift of understanding language and expressing emotion through words made our Lynx ready for the challenge, and many progressed to the final round and received multiple awards.
Shanaya Pokharna '27 showcased her talents to represent Lausanne's Middle School in the seventh-grade 120-Word Dash challenge and gained an honorable mention for her work.
In Upper School, Liam Martin '25 and Meredith Britain '25 took on the ninth-grade 400-Word Main Event, with Liam earning 3rd Place and a bronze medal and Meredith receiving an Honorable Mention. Sophomore Edens Richardson '24 obtained an impressive 1st place in the 10th Grade 120-word Dash and an Honorable Mention in the 40-Word Dash and junior Jyotika Maharaj '23 achieved 3rd Place in the 11th Grade 400-Word Main Event. Senior Sophia Holland '22 swept the board for 12th Grade, receiving an Honorable Mention in the 120-Word Dash, 3rd Place in the 40-Word Dash, 3rd Place in the 400-Word Main Event and a bronze medal. Additionally, our Lynx Upper School participants took home multiple School Trophy wins, including 3rd Place in 9th Grade, 3rd Place in 11th Grade and 2nd Place in 12th Grade.
