Lynx Cross Country Finish Strong At Weekend Meet

The Lausanne Cross Country team traveled to Oakville, Alabama this weekend to participate in the 23rd annual Jesse Owens Cross Country Classic.

“The kids had a blast racing in a high energy, beautifully marked course,” head coach Heather Marshalek said.

The Jesse Owens Cross Country Classic brings junior high and high school students from Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky and Mississippi for a competitive race honoring one of Alabama’s greatest athletes.

“Many of our runners posted best times, and those that did not ran just shy of their best,” Marshalek said.

The top finisher on the girls' side for Lausanne was Anabella Tian ’22, with a time of 24:14. On the boys’ side, Lincoln Hayes ’23 finished in 18:31 to lead the Lynx team.

“Watching the start was the best part,” Marshalek said. “The runners ran hard to establish position early in the race.”
