Lynx Earn 30 Scholastic Art Awards

Congratulations to the 15 Lausanne artists that took home 30 awards at this year's Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, including 11 Gold Keys! Pictured above: "Sleeping Giant" by Dylan Steinfield '27.

The Lynx had the highest number of Gold Keys awarded to any private school in the area and had the second-highest number of total awards in the group. Senior Jack Gerald led the way for Lausanne, winning a total of eight awards for his art, believed to be a new single-year school record.

Celebrating its 100th anniversary, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is our nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. Some of the notable award-winning alumni are Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Ken Burns, Hughie Lee-Smith, Sylvia Plath,  Ezra Jack Keats, Philip Pearlstein, John Updike, Red Grooms, Robert Redford, Cy Twombly, Stephen King, John Currin, and John Lithgow. Art students compete locally through their respective art teachers in regional schools, and recognized artwork is awarded a Gold Key, a Silver Key, or an Honorable Mention. The Gold Key-winning works are displayed at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. This year, they will be exhibited from January 20th through February 19th. This year, there were 3020 entries created by artists in the Mid-South Region. The following is a list of all the winning artworks by our Lausanne artists. Way to go Lynx!
