Our eighth-grade scientist had the opportunity to investigate sea life under a microscope recently during a lab in Middle School teacher Brooke Hoffman's class.

Students designed and carried out an investigation to determine which salinity concentration would hatch the brine shrimp, commonly called sea monkeys, for the project.
"They used three different concentrations to compare," Middle School science teacher Brooke Hoffman shared. "After one week, they counted the brine shrimp by looking at samples through the microscope, collecting data as they went along."

The class used Excel to process and transform their data into tables and graphs to wrap up the project.
"The students loved being able to utilize their skills in a unique way," Hoffman said. "I love being able to create a joyful yet challenging learning environment for them."
