Kewe Chen '21, Jad Hamze '21 and Ayaka Kimura '21 have been honored with being named semifinalists in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship competition.
The three Lausanne seniors are among the 16,000 names announced today as semifinalists.
Students enter the competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) during their junior year.
Semifinalists must complete several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition this spring for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million.
Over 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.
