Being a three-sport athlete who is business-oriented and focused on serving the Memphis community define some of the attributes Senior Beren Rogers '21 holds.
As a Lynx his entire life, Beren had time to realize and pursue his talents and passions over the years.
"Lausanne is the most diverse school in the Memphis area," said Beren. "I think that just being exposed to those that are different from you, especially at a young age, will help you become more open-minded."
In high school, Beren has played soccer, ran cross-country, and swam for Lausanne. The senior also serves as the Midsouth Club Soccer, a team in which He helped lead to victory in the TSSAA Youth Boys D2 Soccer State Championship in 2019.
Beren dedicates his time to being a full DP student for the International Baccalaureate Programme on top of many sports commitments.
"If it interests you, I'd recommend taking advantage of the IB program," said Beren. "It is slightly more academically challenging, but through those challenges, you learn more discipline and tools for later."
As a part of the IB program, every upper-level student is required to engage in community, activity, and service (CAS), and Beren did not take this lightly.
"With the CAS system, you really get out what you put in. For example, out of the three CAS strands, I focused the most on service through experiences and my project. As a result, I'm better prepared for the community service opportunities I plan to pursue in college."
For his CAS project, Beren planned and directed a Holiday Donation Drive for Promise Academy, a charter school in Memphis that Lausanne works closely with each year. He also served as the archivist for MemPeople, a CAS project he worked on previously.
Besides the extensive community service Beren is involved in, he has also been a member of the DECA club, where he currently serves as President. Beren is a DECA District Finalist for 2019 and a District Runner-up and State Finalist for 2020.
While Beren is unsure of what he wants to major in for college, he hopes to minor in real estate. He is currently deciding between Tulane University, the University of Boulder, and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
We are sure that Beren will be successful in whatever he decides to do and are excited to see what comes next for this ambitious and driven Lynx!
