Senior Profile - Eva Yu '21

"I love all the faculty and students at Lausanne," Eva Yu '21 shares. After moving to America from China, she found a home at the school, where over a third of the school population are considered foreign nationals.

"It was my second year in the U.S. when I came to Lausanne, and my English was not good enough to do some work perfectly in classes," said Eva. "All my teachers and classmates helped me a lot with my English in eighth grade, and I improved rapidly that year."

Five years down the road, the full I.B. Diploma candidate has become an integral member of her class. Eva is excelling in the I.B. Program and multiple aspects of the Lausanne Community.

Eva has participated in Tennis and Swimming at Lausanne throughout her high school career and in the Upper School Theater Production of "Bye Bye Birdie" her Junior Year. She has also been a member of the Environmental Outreach, Math, Technical Theater, Korean and Japanese Culture, Animation, Sketching/Painting and Make-a-Wish club.

"I have been able to help the community from the opportunities Lausanne has offered from clubs like Make A Wish or Environmental Outreach Club and advisory projects," said Eva. "I have learned the importance of helping and being engaged in the community."

As a National Honors Society, Science, Art and Sigma Society member, Eva Yu has focused heavily on her academic success. As an IB Full Diploma Candidate, she has taken advantage of the vast array of classes available to Upperclassmen.

"I started to be interested in International relations after I took I.B. classes.," said Eva. "The global issues in literature class led me to think about things that I have not paid attention to, like cultures and social norms in different countries. I am thinking about taking international relations classes in the future to explore more about it."

Eva has recently committed to Boston University, where she plans to major in Advertising. While Eva's time at Lausanne is coming to an end, she is ready to embark on her next journey in life. We can't wait to see what Eva accomplishes and will always be proud to have had her as a Lynx.
