Lincoln Hayes '23 is a full IB student whose number one interest is pursuing music, particularly jazz. He is also president of the TriM music honors society, played with the Germantown Youth Symphony Wind Ensemble and Orchestra for five years and founded the Lausanne House Band called the Missing Lynx. Lincoln is also an accomplished athlete, having run Cross Country at Lausanne for six years and won several regional honors. He will attend Davidson College in the fall and is interested in studying environmental science, engineering, or math.

What is your number one interest and why?
My number one interest is pursuing music, primarily in improving my jazz skills and playing in a jazz ensemble.
What is your favorite subject?
My favorite subject is physics because it is very practical in real-world applications and will likely be related to what I go on to study in college.
What are your extracurriculars/clubs?
I founded the Lausanne House Band called the Missing Lynx and am president of the TriM music honors society at Lausanne. I also have played with the Germantown Youth Symphony Wind Ensemble and Orchestra for five years. With the band, I won regional, state, and national recognition for performances on trombone but I have also played trumpet, double bass, and electric bass for Lausanne. I have also run Cross Country at Lausanne for six years and won several regional honors.
What is your favorite memory at Lausanne?
Playing in the band for Lausanne musicals, Zombie Prom and Mamma Mia
How has Lausanne helped prepare you for the future?
Lausanne has taught me to think critically and has prepared me in my abilities to be a committed, hardworking student. Lausanne has also taught me it is important to balance the lifestyle of a student with life outside of school, i.e., work hard and play hard.
