Senior Profile: Sammi Weiss '19

Sammi Weiss ‘19 has always been passionate about the world around her and through Lausanne’s global minded learning environment and her involvement with Model United Nations she feels prepared for her future, starting with college and eventually taking on global issues.

“One of my favorite activities I’ve participated in at Lausanne is Model UN,” said Sammi.  “I love that it gives me the opportunity to learn about issues that the world faces and to use creative problem-solving skills to find solutions, an ability that I will no doubt use in a future career.”

Along with her interest in global matters is her love for the natural sciences, a trait she shares with her family.

“I have always loved studying the natural sciences, and I attribute this to my parents because they exposed me to the world of science at a young age,” said Sammi. “I want to pursue science in college as well. I will be attending the University of Pennsylvania in the fall, and I plan to major in neuroscience.”

Sammi has always taken her education very seriously, which has given her an advantage academically and led her to being a 2019 National Merit Scholar recipient.

Outside of her academic endeavors, Sammi likes to participate in other school activities including theater productions and HOSA, but her favorite time of year at Lausanne is Artsfest Sportsfest.

“Artsfest Sportsfest is a really fun way to have fun, relax and celebrate the end of the school year,” said Sammi.  “It really encapsulates the ‘work hard play hard’ mentality we have at Lausanne.”

Sammi has spent a lot of time embracing what Lausanne offers, and as she celebrates her final day of school and Artsfest Sportsfest, she will leave Lausanne with memories of the fun she had as a students and the academic skills she learned along the way. Sammi should be proud of all that she has accomplished here and prepared for new experiences and challenges in college.
