To give Lausanne students a glimpse of their potential future after college, Lausanne seniors had the opportunity to intern at a broad spectrum of organizations last week. Organizations at over 75 Mid-South companies across the Mid-South hosted 107 Lausanne seniors.
Through these internships, the Class of 2023 had the opportunity to explore and use their talents and skills in a unique environment while also learning to market their abilities and step out of their comfort zones.
“College admissions has become very competitive,” Head of Upper School Stuart Dunster said. “Participating in these Internships adds a dimension to the student’s resume. This helps them stand out as they apply for colleges. It also allows them to focus on an area that has the potential to be their college major.”
As seniors find a potential career path, Lausanne helps students reach out to alums and other connections in the community to begin building those relationships and secure internships.
“In the right internship environment, a senior may uncover hidden talents or skills,” Dunster said. “At the same time, they can decide if this path is one they want to continue going forward.”
The goal for the week is for the Class of 2023 to make strides toward what they want to do with their lives, with the experience of the week helping provide them with a better understanding of what their future might hold.
