A group of Lausanne students are volunteering at the FedEx Family House as part of their service hours for their CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) project.
Juniors, Ayaka and Yuka Kimura '21, Shreya Palakurthi '21 , and Brinnan Lawson '21 Upper School French and Spanish Instructor and Sophomore Advisor Eric Becker are baking for families currently residing at the house.t the FedEx Family House, an extension of LeBonheur Hospital. The juniors are volunteering every month at the FedEx Family House as part of their Service hours for CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service).
"This service opportunity is 100% student-driven," Becker said.
The students asked Mr. Becker for assistance because he has a hobby of baking.
During their most recent trip, they made pumpkin cheesecake bites and little Oreo turkeys.
"It was great fun for everyone involved and we all learned a valuable lesson about working with chocolate," Becker said. "It’s extremely finicky!
