The Lausanne Varsity Girls Lacrosse team displayed their strength and versatility Monday night in a win against White Station High School.
Even as temperatures dropped below 30 during the game, the Lady Lynx never lost focus and finished with a 13-3 victory over the Spartans. Morgan Smith ’19 powered through scoring five goals, while Madeline Culbreth ’19, Nadia Elroz ’19, Zoe Hamblen ’20, Orli Katz ’20 and Kayla Hope ’20 also made their way past the opposing team's goalie to contribute to the win.
“The team has been working really hard during practices and Monday’s win was a reflection of that,” said head coach Cayce Densford. "Games like this are what motivate them to keep pushing themselves as we move forward."
With a 3-1 record, the Lady Lynx have had a promising start to the 2019 lacrosse season and they are determined to maintain that momentum as they prepare for the rest of their schedule.
“Our game with White Station showed how our juniors and seniors are taking their leadership and game mentality to the next level,” said head coach Rachel Hammons. “They are prepared and executing our game plan for the full 50 minutes. Our next game should be an opportunity for us to take the next step in our defensive scheme and continue to improve on attack.”
The Varsity Girls will be back in action Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. as they face St. Benedict at Auburndale on Lausanne's athletic field.
