Veteran's Day Celebration at Lausanne

Students in EPAC applauded loudly when Mr. Eddie Spencer stood to be recognized as Lausanne honored Veteran’s on Thursday during a “We Remember” Veteran’s Day Presentation to mark the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day.

Mr. Eddie Spencer, a veteran of World War 2 and friend of Lausanne, visits Lausanne every Tuesday to eat lunch with the administration and is applauded by the students each week upon entering the dining hall. Along with the WW2 veteran, were other veterans who came to show support and to be honored during the presentation.

The ceremony opened with the song “Hymn to Loved Ones Lost,” performed by the Upper School band and followed with “In Flanders Field,” sung by the Upper School Chorus. Dr. Nancy Graham, Lausanne’s Chorus Director, spoke to the students about the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, and Christina Frye ’19 welcomed guest speaker Dr. Charles Crawford of the University of Memphis to the stage. To conclude the program, the chorus and band performed armed forces fight songs, and Headmaster McCathie gave closing remarks.

It was a wonderful presentation, and Lausanne is proud to honor our Veteran’s and their families and the sacrifices they have made for this country.
