At Summers @ Lausanne, our goal remains to provide your child with engaging and enjoyable experiences which allow for substantial academic, athletic, social and emotional growth. We place great care and effort into offering the very best in instruction by providing children with opportunities in which they can discover untapped strengths and nurture new friendships all under the supervision of a well trained staff.
 
We believe that you will find our summer program to be specifically designed to offer your child a full range of activities which cater to his or her own personal interests. If, however, you should discover an activity that you believe is missing from our program, please let us know, as we will be more than happy to try and integrate it into our afterschool and summer programming options.
 
Summers @ Lausanne welcomes new and prospective students alike, as well as guests. This guide is designed to offer you support when it comes to selecting engaging and enjoyable experiences for your students as rising Junior Kindergartners through Twelfth Graders. Week One (May 29-June 1)

Morning Sessions

  • THE ART OF MAKING A MESS (Rising JK–SK) Lindsey Byard, Lausanne Conservatory Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Students will hone fine motor skills through creative expression using unconventional materials, emphasizing process over product…or to put it another way, we’ll make a GIGANTIC, FUN MESS while creating artwork that could include erupting sidewalk chalk, bubbles, spaghetti and even our bare feet! Please leave the fancy duds at home and dress your children for a colorful disaster. Squeals, giggles and art supplies are provided.
  • GYMNASTICS (Rising JK–8th) Patty Moore, LCS After School Instructor Registration Fee: $205, includes BeforeCare Gymnastics is a great way to have fun, stay fit and boost confidence! Not only will children gain instruction on all four Olympic events—floor, uneven bars, balance beam and vault, they will be able to master skills seen on television. Yes, our children can do it too!
  • TRIATHLON TRAINING (Rising 1st–4th) Leslie Crais, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Triathlon Training introduces children to the concept of a triathlon. Children will play a wide range of running, water and fitness games! Please send your child with a swimsuit, bicycle and running shoes each day as we prepare for Summer Fun: A Mini Triathlon for Kids on Friday, June 1, 2018!
  • CLAY MANIA (Rising 1st–4th) Michel Belknap, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Seize the clay! Join us as we sculpt our favorite fictional characters from movies, books, film, or video games. Put your imagination to work and develop complementary character masterpieces using acrylics, watercolors and various mix media material. Everything we do in this camp is customizable to your child whether he or she enjoys Harry Potter, Minecraft, My Little Ponies, or Disney Princesses. Each child will take home a portfolio on Friday.
  • MAKER CHALLENGE (Rising 3rd–8th) Kim Bullard, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $165, includes BeforeCare Join the Maker Space community for young Makers interested in DIY, making, creating, crafting, hacking, tinkering and learning! Each day, campers will break, build and re-build new projects, including games, toys, gadgets and robots. Through creation, campers will learn important aspects of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. We will be constantly thinking and constantly tinkering; something we like to call thinkering!
  • MEMPHIS FOOD TOUR (Rising 5th–8th) Summers @ Lausanne Staff Registration Fee: $245, includes BeforeCare and field trip fees Calling all food connoisseurs! Spend the week on and off campus discovering delicious local eateries and learning secrets from our city’s culinary masters. The highlight of the week will include a customized food tour in downtown Memphis.
  • HORSE RIDING (Rising JK-12) Mary Mielenz Lesson Registration Fee: $50 Camp Registration Fee: $300/week On Mary Mielenz’s farm in Collierville, Tennessee, Mary provides private and group riding lessons centered around classic riding principal basics and horsemanship. Mary offers camps designed to help young riders develop a strong foundation on which to build future skills and success. Space is limited, so please enroll at least one week in advance. Horses are suitable for all riding levels.

  • GLOBAL CITIZENS (Rising JK–8th) Lausanne Conservatory and Community Guests Registration Fee: $130, includes AfterCare The “Lausanne Way” encourages us to develop self-reflection, global mindedness, meaningful relationships and character through service. Global Citizens is an exciting, activity-filled week which focuses on ourselves and our relationship to the world around us in a creative and adventurous way. On Friday we invite campers to dress up in their favorite garb from another country and join us at our own D.I.Y. multicultural festival!

Travel Opportunity (May 30-June 3)

  • EXPLORE: THE GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS & WHITE WATER RAFTING (Rising 7th–12th) Steve Hubbard, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $495 *Students must be at least 12 years of age and weigh over 60 pounds. Get ready for a wilderness adventure! This overnight trip will include activities such as climbing, repelling, horseback riding, hiking, swimming and more! Together we will conquer rafting the Ocoee (1996 Olympic Site) and Nantahala Rivers.   • GO MO! (Rising JK–SK) Krishna Andrews, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Say, is there a pigeon in this camp? Let’s get seriously silly! While on an adventure with Mo Willems’ storybook characters Gerald and Piggie, we’ll learn the elements of good storytelling and expand our vocabularies with Snap Words. We’ll try our hands at the art and whimsy of illustrating like Mo Willems, too. Bring your brilliant minds and join in as we create funny characters and develop the silliest of all plots in our very own storybook to share.
  • WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE (Rising JK–SK) Shelby Ritzel Longfellow, Lausanne Community Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare We’re going to the jungle! How about you? Join us for a trip to the Amazon and West Africa, too! We’ll learn about jaguars, monkeys, frogs and more. Let’s go on an exciting scavenger hunt and make creative projects galore. This expedition isn’t for the faint at heart—for this is the place where little ROARS get their start!
  • KIDVENTORS (Rising 1st–3rd) Liz Jarvis, Lausanne Community Registration Fee: $145, includes BeforeCare Eureka! Bring your creativity and innovation for an adventure as an inventor. Join us as we explore what it takes to transform a mere notion into a tangible creation. Maybe you could be the next Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, or Leonardo Da Vinci… one idea can change everything!
  • THE ART OF SERVING OTHERS (Rising 1st–4th) Lindsey Byard, Lausanne Conservatory Registration Fee: $135 includes BeforeCare Together we will discover meaningful ways to brighten someone’s day with our imaginations and art supplies! Campers will serve our neighbors and our community through a variety of projects, such as creating doggie chew toys for the Streetdog Foundation. Most of all, we’ll be reminded that people of any age can be a huge help to others.
  • BOYS BASKETBALL (Rising 1st–8th) Marvis Davis, LCS Athletics Registration Fee: $135 includes BeforeCare Coach Marvis offers instruction in the fundamentals of basketball including passing, dribbling, stance and positioning. Players will learn individual and team techniques while practicing game-like scenarios in the IAC gymnasium.
  • LEGO ROBOTICS (Rising 4th–8th) Kim Bullard, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $155, includes BeforeCare Dive into the world of programming as we learn to construct and operate robots. The STEM based curriculum strengthens critical thinking skills through hands-on learning and problem-based scenarios for students. At the end of the week, students will have the opportunity to compete in Summers @ Lausanne’s version of an epic Lego Robotics battle challenge!

Afternoon Sessions

  • MUSICAL THEATER BOOT CAMP (Rising 2nd–8th) Lausanne Conservatory Registration Fee: $305, includes BeforeCare, Lunch and AfterCare Children will present an entire musical show—complete with costumes, lights and sets—all in one week! Regardless of your child’s experience level, he or she will receive voice lessons, dance and drama lessons, audition opportunities and so much more! Early registration is strongly encouraged. Space is limited.
  • MUSICAL THEATER: APPRENTICE ARTIST Lausanne Conservatory Registration Fee: $115, includes Lunch Services If you have an interest in providing a supporting role in theater, then this opportunity is for you. Junior and Senior Company members will take active roles on stage, but will need assistance with the overall production.

Travel Opportunity (June 4-8)

  • EXPLORE: HISTORY ALIVE! (Rising 7th–10th) Catherine Hammons, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $1850 2018 marks the 50th Anniversary of the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy. Both men lived extraordinary lives as they fought for equality and justice. To honor their legacy, the Summers @ Lausanne History Alive Program is partnering with the Robert Kennedy Human Rights organization for a unique leadership conference. During this week-long adventure, students will visit the RFK Human Rights offices and attend a seminar focused on how to affect change in the world. Students will have the opportunity to hear from active human rights advocates and lawyers who fight for justice internationally as they share their stories and advice for making a difference in the world. Along with learning to take a stand in the community, students will visit historic sites and museums to learn about MLK Jr. and RFK’s fight for justice. The trip fee includes airfare, hotel, admission fees, transportation and meals. Space within this opportunity is very limited; students must complete an application and interview process in order to be accepted into the program.

Week Three (June 11-15)

Morning Sessions

  • SUPERHERO CAPERS (Rising JK–SK) Whitney Robertson, Lausanne Community Registration Fee: $ 135, includes BeforeCare Hone your superpowers and fight for justice during a week swarming with shining superheroes and vile villains! Campers will attempt to save the world throughout a week-long role-playing adventure. All are encouraged to wear superhero/villain attire daily.
  • I LIKE TO MOVE IT, MOVE IT (Rising JK–SK) Lausanne Conservatory Dance Instructors Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Calling all movers and shakers! If you’re looking for an action-packed week of moving and grooving, then this is the place for you! Campers will spend the week studying all different kinds of dance including jazz, hip hop, ballet and tap. We’ll even use our imagination to venture to faraway lands like India and the Caribbean for Bollywood-style and salsa dancing! Family and friends: be sure to join us on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Elder Performing Arts Center for a final performance of what we’ve learned this week. See you on the dance floor!
  • FORT LYNX (Rising 1st–3rd) Krishna Andrews, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Imagine it, build it…all with cardboard! Join Mrs. Andrews for a unique construction challenge that incorporates our engaging, hands on STEM curriculum. All activities are customizable to your child. We’ll have more than enough supplies to create a whole new home, fort, dollhouse, you name it!
  • EXPLODING EXPERIMENTS & SLIME (Rising 1st–4th) Liz Jarvis, Lausanne Community Registration Fee: $145, includes BeforeCare Wanted: Students who aren’t afraid to make a mess! Get ready for a sensational science and slime extravaganza. During this week of discovery, students will experiment with chemistry and physics to create projects that fizz, crackle and explode. Kaboom!
  • LADY LYNX BASKETBALL “FUN”DAMENTALS CAMP (Rising 1st–8th) Lesa Mears, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Coach Mears offers instruction in the fundamentals of basketball, including passing, dribbling, stance, positioning and more! Players will learn individual and team techniques that will be practiced in gamelike scenarios in the IAC.
  • ESCAPE ROOM DESIGN (Rising 4th–8th) Amy Brownlee, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $215, includes BeforeCare & field trip fees Operation: Breakout! Crack the code before the time runs out! You’ve never had an escape room experience quite like this before—in one week we will visit a local escape room, then use our collective brainpower to create our very own storyline and breakout puzzles for our friends and family to experience on campus. Students will sharpen their math, logic and reasoning skills with adrenalinepumping excitement and teamwork. Get ready to solve mysteries, follow hidden clues and put your Sherlock Holmes abilities to the test!
  • SONGWRITERS COLLECTIVE (Rising 5th–8th) Mark Allen, LCS Conservatory Registration Fee: $165, includes BeforeCare Calling all aspiring singer-songwriters! It’s time for you to steal the spotlight! This week-long program will help you hone your writing and performance skills under the guidance of professional singersongwriters. You’ll write the lyrics and melody to your own song while exploring a variety of songwriting styles and collaborating with other budding performers. Each camper will perform in a musical showcase on Friday before leaving with a recording of their track. See you center stage!

On Friday, dress up in your best tropical wear to enjoy a luau with an optional hula hoop and limbo contest. Surf’s up, Lynx!

Evening Sessions

  • FOOTBALL (Rising 3rd–8th) Kevin Locastro, Director of Athletics Registration Fee: $115 Coach Locastro offers instruction in the fundamentals of football, including all positions within offense and defense. Players will learn individual and team techniques in a fun, high energy environment!
  • BOYS & GIRLS LACROSSE (Rising 2nd–8th) Cayce Densford & LCS Athletics Registration Fee: $115 This camp is designed to meet the needs of our youngest lacrosse athletes by emphasizing techniques and specific skill instruction while engaging our campers in fun fitness activities. Please dress your child in lightweight clothing and athletic shoes. No open-toed or backless shoes.

Week Four (June 18-22)

Morning Sessions

  • HAPPILY EVER AFTER (Rising JK–SK) Whitney Robertson, Lausanne Community Registration Fee: $ 145, includes BeforeCare Princess dreams do come true! In this week-long role-playing adventure, we’ll engage in imaginative activities and create tiaras, wands and other accessories with magical delight! The happy ending to our week will be a Princess Ball and a visit from a very special guest. Campers are encouraged to wear their favorite princess or fairy tale attire daily.
  • STEAM EARLY EXPLORERS (Rising JK–SK) Krishna Andrews, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Join Mrs. Andrews for a fun introduction to our engaging STEAM curriculum. Students will work creatively to fuse science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics in an interactive, joyful environment. This camp allows students the opportunity to explore beginner level, ageappropriate concepts that lay the foundation for future studies in coding, building, crafting, designing, problem-solving and more.

  • VOLLEYBALL (Rising 1st–8th) Angie Buchanan, LCS Athletics Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Pass, set, spike! This all girls camp will focus on drills to improve hand/eye coordination, technical skills and teamwork. Join Coach Buchanan to explore these fundamentals and more in fun, game-like scenarios!

This camp is designed for active students and outdoor enthusiasts. Join us for an ultimate adventure on and off campus as we participate in a different extreme activity daily. We will put our abilities and strengths to the test, while encouraging each other and building relationships. Sample activities could include biking, hiking, canoeing, a ropes course and a trip to SkyZone. All field trips subject to change based on enrollment.
  • BUILD YOUR OWN SKATEBOARD DECK (Rising 9th–12th) Jonathan Auger, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $225 This hands-on workshop guides participants in the design and creation of their own one-of-a-kind skateboard. Participants first learn about the history of skateboard shapes and their functions before using their creative problem solving skills and personal artistic license to design, build and paint a unique skateboard deck from start to finish. This process encourages critical thinking, reinforces math and measurement skills, teaches basic woodworking techniques and safety, and ultimately gives participants a sense of personal accomplishment upon completion of the project. Each participant will leave with a skateboard deck of their own creation. Although wheels, bearings and trucks are not included in this workshop, we will discuss which types are best for each participant.

Afternoon Session

  • TO INFINITY AND BEYOND! (Rising JK–8th) Registration Fee: $115, includes AfterCare Space is the place! Future astronauts: report to Camp Lausanne for a full week of out-of-this-world adventures! We’ll use our thinking hats to launch D.I.Y. space shuttles, make lunar slime and design our own solar system models. Our galactic adventure will end with astronaut training and a trip to a galaxy far, far away. 3, 2, 1…BLAST OFF!

All Day Session

  • LYNX SCHOOL OF ROCK (Rising 7th–12th) Mark Allen, Lausanne Conservatory Registration Fee: $500, Lunch included Are you an experienced musician looking for experience honing your musical talent and jamming with a real band? Put down the classifieds and make your way to camp! Come ready to bring your music to the next level in guitar, keys, bass, drums, or singing! After being matched with bandmates, musicians will dive right into songwriting and rehearsal for a battle of the bands on Friday. Performers will also study music theory, rock and roll appreciation, and the fundamentals of performance. Campers must have a minimum of 6 months of training/experience on guitar, electric bass, drums, keyboard or vocals.

Week Five (June 25-29)

Morning Sessions

  • ONE IN A MINION (Rising JK–SK) Shelby Ritzel Longfellow, Lausanne Community Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Step into a wonderful world of animation where we’ll pretend our favorite Despicable Me characters have come to life to help us read, create and explore. Campers are welcome to dress like their favorite animated characters from the film series daily. We will end the week with a visit from a very special surprise guest or two!
  • RISING STARS (Rising JK–SK) Lausanne Conservatory Registration Fee: $155, includes BeforeCare Future superstars will explore music, movement and drama in this introduction to the performing arts! Children build confidence and learn the importance of teamwork all while learning to tell stories with their bodies as well as their voices. Friends and family, please join us for an informal showing on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Elder Performing Arts Center

Spend an exciting week exploring the animal kingdom through a crash course in zoology. We’ll learn about animal behaviors and classifications through games, activities and crafts. On Friday we will experience and observe our favorite animals first-hand with a trip to the Memphis Zoo!
  • TENNIS (Rising 1st–4th) Jennifer Abston, LCS Athletics Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Regardless of your child’s current level of skill, this class will be a huge hit, in both instruction and excitement! Children will improve coordination and technique through practice on our own campus tennis courts.
  • FASHION DESIGN 101 (Rising 3rd–4th) Tara Skelley, Lausanne Community Registration Fee: $165, includes BeforeCare We’re all about fabrics, fashion and fun in this couture camp for budding fashionistas and future design divas! Students will have the opportunity to view the creative world of fashion through the eyes of a local professional and will experience the design process from start to finish in one week. Along the way, we’ll explore the fundamentals of sketching, illustrating, sewing, styling and sourcing fabric. A mid-week fabric shopping field trip is included. We will end the week with a celebration of each camper’s unique creative expression with a photo shoot and fashion show for parents! Early registration is strongly recommended. Space is very limited.
  • GREEN SCREEN DIRECTORS (Rising 4th–8th) Brad Manker, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $145, includes BeforeCare Get ready to go behind the scenes of movie production and experience filmmaking from the Director’s chair! Students will eplore the process of planning, creating, filming and editing a movie using the iMovie app and the green screen in the MakerSpace.
  • LYNX FARM TO TABLE (Rising 5th–8th) Tom Brezina, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $155, includes BeforeCare Break the chain—eat local! Together we will explore community gardening, the farm to table initiative, and the importance of local food sourcing. Campers will complete engaging activities from the popular curriculum, French Fries and The Food System, in both a natural, outdoor setting and a laboratory environment. Sample topics include composting, garden maintenance, science of horticulture, and sustainability.
  • VIDEO GAME ARCADE (Rising 7th–12th) Jonathan Auger, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $475 This hands-on workshop guides participants in the design and creation of their own working table top arcade machine. Participants first learn about the history of video games in an arcade environment before using their creative problem solving skills and personal artistic license to design, build and paint a unique arcade machine from start to finish. This process encourages critical thinking, reinforces math and measurement skills, teaches basic woodworking techniques and safety, and ultimately gives participants a sense of personal accomplishment upon completion of the project.

Afternoon Session

  • ARTIC ADVENTURES (Rising JK–8th) Registration Fee: $130, includes AfterCare It may be hot outside but it’s cool at Summers @ Lausanne! Come beat the heat with us in our own winter wonderland! Arctic experiments and winter games will include making exploding snowballs, indoor bobsled racing and ice skating, creating snowstorms in a jar and more! There may even be a snowball fight or two. Need to chill out? It’s snow problem!

July 2-13

The Lausanne campus will be CLOSED the week of July 2-6 and July 9-13.

However, there is a travel opportunity and an off campus opportunity. 

  • EXPLORE! CHICAGO & THE PERFORMING ARTS Lauren Stallings, LCS Conservatory Registration Fee: $2359, includes all expenses except lunch, spending money, & baggage fees Experience the Windy City in the Lausanne Way! Tour highlights will include the Chicago Cultural Center, the Willis Tower Observatory, the Museum of Science and Industry, an architecture river cruise, Navy Pier and the Art Institute of Chicago! Students will not only enjoy taking in the sights, but they will also have the exclusive opportunity to take a master class with a professional from Second City improvisational theater program.   • HORSE RIDING (Rising JK-12) Mary Mielenz Lesson Registration Fee: $50 Camp Registration Fee: $300/week On Mary Mielenz’s farm in Collierville, Tennessee, Mary provides private and group riding lessons centered around classic riding principal basics and horsemanship. Mary offers camps designed to help young riders develop a strong foundation on which to build future skills and success. Space is limited, so please enroll at least one week in advance.   • AHOY MATEYS! (Rising JK–SK) Whitney Robertson, Lausanne Community Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Join us for a week designed to spark your child’s imagination and tickle their funny bone. Decoding pirate’s maps, scavenger hunting for buried treasure, designing costumes complete with parrots, spyglasses and eye patches, and singing chanties of the raging seas—you name it, and we’ll do it as we sail the high seas and return home with tales of mighty exploits!
  • FIT FRENZY (Rising JK–SK) Summers @ Lausanne Staff Registration Fee: $130, includes BeforeCare Games galore! Together we will learn to develop strong bodies and hearts through a variety of fitness activities, games, sports and healthy snacking! Please dress your child in comfortable lightweight clothing and athletic shoes. No open-toed or backless shoes.
  • IFIT (Rising 1st–4th) Rachael Arnwine, Lausanne Community Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Sports and exercise have come a long way, thanks to science! Young athletes and fitness aficionados— learn how to train better and smarter with exercise science expert Rachael Arnwine. Campers will spend the week trying out a variety of fascinating sports science experiments, workouts, biomechanics games and even healthy (and delicious!) snacks! The highlight of the week will be a trip to the University of Memphis’ exercise science laboratory to study human movement and performance firsthand! Girls and boys of all levels of athletic ability—iFit Camp is the perfect way for you to work out your bodies and your minds.
  • LIVE FROM LAUSANNE (Rising 5th–8th) Brad Manker, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Whose line is it anyway?! Get ready to improve your improv game and sharpen your skills of spontaneity. Students will spend the week participating in short-form (5 minutes or less) improvisation training. We will play and practice games derived from famous comedy TV shows. All of the principles we will explore together are based on improvisation techniques from Second City Chicago and ComedySportz, the longest-running, game-based and family friendly comedy show. On Friday, parents and friends are invited to campus for a brief showcase of work from the week!
  • BEHIND THE LENS (Rising 5th–8th) Lausanne Conservatory Registration Fee: $175, includes BeforeCare and field trip fees Anyone and everyone with an interest in understanding the basic principles of photography will enjoy this experience. Participants will receive the opportunity to shoot still-life, action and headshots, daily. We will even journey to Shelby Farms Park for lessons in landscape photography! Throughout the week, we will add images to our portfolio and bring home prints to share.
  • Young Knights Chess Camp (Rising SK-1st) Mid South Chess Registration Fee: $150, Includes BeforeCare. It's time to learn the noble game of chess and Lausanne School welcomes you to a summer chess camp for learning and achievement.  Teaching piece movement, strategy, tactics, openings, middle game and endgame maneuvers, this camp shows your child what a fantastic game chess is for them. Mid-South Chess presents the noble game of chess in a fun and exciting environment. Each instructor is hand selected for skill, competence, and experience in coaching chess.   Check out the regal game of chess that Mid-South Chess considers an art, a science, and a sport.  Bring a chess set if you have one (or buy a set one through the non-profit Shelby County Chess at the camp).  See you across the board.

  • IT’S A MYSTERY! (Rising JK–8th) Registration Fee: $125, includes AfterCare Oh no! Camp themes have been shuffled at Lausanne! Our solution? A week where the theme changes every day and is a TOTAL surprise for campers! Campers might walk into the wild west one day and dive under the sea the next. Anything is possible during this wacky week! What will the themes be? You’ll have to join us to see! One thing is for certain – you’re in for a week of fun, surprises and adventures galore!

All Day Sessions

  • MUSICAL THEATER BOOT CAMP (Rising 2nd–8th) Lausanne Conservatory Registration Fee: $305, includes BeforeCare, Lunch and AfterCare Children will present an entire musical show— complete with costumes, lights and sets—all in one week! Regardless of your child’s experience level, he or she will receive voice lessons, dance and drama lessons, audition opportunities and so much more! Early registration is strongly encouraged.   • MUSICAL THEATER: APPRENTICE ARTIST Lausanne Conservatory Registration Fee: $115, includes Lunch Services If you have an interest in providing a supporting role in theater, then this opportunity is for you. Junior and Senior Company members will take active roles on stage, but will need assistance with the overall production.

Week Seven (July 23-27)

Morning Sessions

  • JUMP INTO JK SPANISH LCS Teachers Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Catch of glimpse of what is to come in JK! Through games and music, students will be introduced to main concepts in Spanish such as greetings, the alphabet, numbers, weather and the days of the week. Together we will practice vocabulary words through to encourage speaking and identification of objects and people. Community guests are welcome to attend this camp course.
  • SKIP INTO SK Rhonda Fullilove, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Hop, Jump and Skip into Senior Kindergarten! Mrs. Fullilove invites all rising senior kindergarteners to meet lovable new friends just like the characters in The Adventures of Frog and Toad. While enjoying this exciting book, students will become acquainted with their classroom as well as the Lausanne campus, all while preparing for the upcoming school year. Community guests are welcome to attend this camp course.
  • FLYING INTO FIRST GRADE Robin Pohlman, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Get ready to fly into 1st grade! Let Mrs. Robin Pohlman introduce to the routines, procedures and expectations of 1st grade. Activities will include grade level projects, word study, desk organization, as well as Everyday Math and Readers and Writers Workshop! We will also refresh reading, writing, math and handwriting skills to prepare children for the upcoming academic year.
  • SECOND GRADE AWAITS YOU! Robin Fessler, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Allow Robin Fessler to introduce your child to the creative world of 2nd grade. Children will participate in activities designed to strengthen team-building and problem-solving, which will include a survey regarding learning styles. Become acquainted with 2nd grade routines and expectations through Readers & Writers Workshop, projects and math review. Children will enter the upcoming academic year feeling confident and prepared for to 2nd grade.
  • WELCOME TO THIRD & FOURTH GRADE SCIENCE LAB John Frassinelli, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare This is the perfect camp for those who want a sneak peek into the upcoming curriculum, procedures and routines of science lab with Dr. Frass. Over the course of the week we’ll explore basic music theory, audio/midi language, virtual instrumentation and video editing. All gear and software will be provided. Space is very limited.   • LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! (Rising JK–8th) Registration Fee: $125, includes AfterCare Do you have dreams of making it big in Hollywood? This is the week for you! With help from a local professional, campers will work together to write, direct and star in short films to be showcased at Camp Lausanne’s 4th annual Summer Film Festival. Campers will also get to test their luck at Lausanne’s own versions of popular shows, including Cupcake Wars, The Price Is Right and Let’s Make a Deal. See you on set, superstars!

  • CREATURES OF THE NIGHT (Rising JK–SK) Summers @ Lausanne Staff Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare When the sun goes away, nocturnal animals come out to play! It may seem simply batty to sleep all day and wake up to the moonlight, but these cool critters have it down to a science. Together we will discover the habitats, acute senses and behaviors of creatures such as raccoons, owls, fireflies, porcupines, skunks and bats. Whooo knew learning could be such a hoot?!
  • UNICORN GLITTER BOUTIQUE (Rising JK–SK) Lindsey Byard, Lausanne Conservatory Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare It’s hard being a unicorn in a world of plain old horses! Join art teacher Lindsey Byard for a week of enchanted art-making. If you’re looking to add a little more sparkle to your summer, join us for a creative adventure of fun and colorful surprises!
  • CHOOSE 901 (Rising 1st–4th) Summers @ Lausanne Staff Registration Fee: $130, includes BeforeCare Join us for a week of all things Memphis! We live in a beautiful city, rich with fascinating history, world-class arts, famous cuisine and fiercely loyal sports fans. This week, we will celebrate our great city by concocting treats inspired by Memphis’ most renowned eateries and creating imaginative Memphis-inspired crafts. We will learn about the organizations unique to Memphis through fun activities and guest appearances from some very special locals!

Each day we will tour a popular or historical Memphis site. All field trips are subject to change depending on enrollment and weather conditions. Example field trip opportunities include: Memphis Fire Museum, The Pink Palace Museum, Graceland, Gibson Guitar Factory, The Orpheum, Dinstuhls Fine Candy Company, MIFA and Shelby Farms Park!
  • FASHION DESIGN 101 (Rising 5th–8th) Tara Skelley, Lausanne Community Registration Fee: $165, includes BeforeCare We’re all about fabrics, fashion and fun in this couture camp for budding fashionistas and future design divas! Students will have the opportunity to view the creative world of fashion through the eyes of a local professional and will experience the design process from start to finish in one week. Along the way, we’ll explore the fundamentals of sketching, illustrating, sewing, styling and sourcing fabric. A mid-week fabric shopping field trip is included. We will end the week with a celebration of each camper’s unique creative expression with a photo shoot and fashion show for parents! Early registration is strongly recommended. Space is very limited.
  • ULTIMATE (Rising 5th–8th) Kyle Bischel, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $135, includes BeforeCare Prepare to play indoors! In the heat of the summer, join us in the cool AC as we enjoy this high-energy game. No equipment is required to play this non-contact team sport, which mixes elements of basketball, soccer and football.
  • ADVANCED WRITING WORKSHOP (Rising 9th–12th) Rebecca Hodges, LCS Teacher Registration Fee: $135 Come to the advanced writing workshop to learn how to improve your writing in any subject. This class includes practical, how-to steps and lots of line-byline feedback to help you feel more comfortable and confident writing masterfully on everything from class papers to college application essays.

Afternoon Session

  • GO FOR THE GOLD! (Rising JK–8th) Registration Fee: $115, includes AfterCare Join us for a monumental look into the past, including a mini sports obstacle course, a festive color war, and of course, our very own Lausanne Olympics! Campers will hold opening and closing ceremonies, proudly carry the Lausanne Olympics torch and even earn Olympic medals. Go for the gold, Lynx!
 
  • PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

    Once you know what is available and are aware of your child’s interests, you can customize your student’s schedule on a weekly basis. Morning Sessions are geared towards special interests, and Afternoon sessions feature Camp Lausanne weekly themes, designed to provide a true recreational camp experience.

    Registration Fee: 1 class/week - $110; 2 classes/week - $285
    Zumba is a total body workout and so much fun! Zumba combines all levels of fitness - cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility while moving to music. Come get your dance on.
     
  • CARDIO, STRENGTH AND CIRCUIT
    June 4 – July 30, Tuesdays & Thursdays (9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.)
    Registration Fee: 1 class/week - $110; 2 classes/week - $285
    Fitness is movement. The more active you are, the more calories you burn, and the better you feel about yourself. In this class, everyone will feel comfortable working at their own pace with LCS Athletic trainer Fitz Boswell.
     
  • FREE FAMILY BIKE RIDES
    June 9, July 14, & August 11 (10 a.m. – 12 p.m.)
    Grab your bike and join Coach Leslie Crais to improve your fitness while enjoying some family fun. Group rides are a great way to stay active and connect with other members of our Lausanne community. We will meet at the Shelby Farms Visitor Center, and everyone is invited to bring a sack lunch for a picnic on the lawn after the ride!
